As of October 1, 2024, Walter Oblin (55) will be the new CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Austrian Post. Born in Villach, he joined Austrian Post in October 2009 as Head of Strategy and Group Development. In July 2012, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer and in January 2019 Deputy Chief Executive Officer, additionally taking on responsibility for the Mail & Direct Mail Division. Walter Oblin now succeeds Georg Pölzl, who has been CEO and the longest-serving General Director of the company since 2009.
Walter Oblin's Management Board responsibilities include Corporate Communications & Customer Relations, Branch Offices, Mail & Direct Mail, Post Business Solutions, Investor Relations, Corporate Audit & Compliance, Group Strategy, Digital & Innovation and HR Management.

NEW MANAGEMENT BOARD TRIO FROM JANUARY 1, 2025
Barbara Potisk-Eibensteiner will complete the Management Board team as Chief Financial Officer on January 1, 2025. Until then, Walter Oblin will continue his previous role as Board Member for Mail & Finance in addition to his new role as CEO, which includes responsibilities for corporate accounting & controlling, corporate IT & procurement, corporate law, and corporate real estate. Peter Umundum was appointed Deputy CEO as of October 1, 2024, and will continue to be the Board Member for Parcel & Logistics.
CV WALTER OBLIN
Walter Oblin was born in Villach on May 4, 1969 and studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Graz as well as an MBA in the USA. He began his professional career in 1994 as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Vienna. He was made a partner there in 2000 and subsequently took on management roles as a member of the Austrian management team and in McKinsey's global transportation and logistics sector. After working for a German CleanTech start-up, he took over as Head of Strategy and Group Development at Austrian Post in autumn 2009. In July 2012, he became CFO and, since early 2019, has also been in charge of the Mail Division. Walter Oblin is also Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of bank99.
